Did you know that stress plays a big role in belly fat? It triggers the production of cortisol, which is a stress hormone that’s linked to an increased appetite and more belly fat. Find healthy ways to relax each day, like getting 10 minutes alone to meditate, read your favorite book, or do this tension-melting yoga sequence. If you’re anxious or worried, talk to a friend or therapist or write in a journal. And go ahead and treat yourself to a manicure or a massage when you’re really stressed. It’s good for your mental health — and your belly.
Yes, it can be very tempting to reach for the merlot at the end of a particularly taxing day at the office, but studies show that alcohol is one of the main offenders when it comes to storing belly fat. Consider this: if you consume just two glasses of wine an evening, that’s an extra 72,000 calories a year, which equates to 20 pounds of fat.
So if my tdee is 1869 I would have to cut 750 calories which is a 24% caloric deficit and that would take me to about 1,100 to be in a caloric deficit. Second question what if I wouldn’t want to do weightlifting but kept high in protein and increased the HIIT cardio workout. Would that still help with weightloss?
Believe it or not, your body actually doesn’t want to store fat. And the secret to lasting weight loss does not come down to complicated calorie-counting and weight-loss gimmicks. Instead, it’s about working with your body’s natural hunger and sleep rhythms to curb cravings, burn fat and send your energy levels soaring. Of course, as well as greatly improving your overall health, losing your belly fat will also help you to look better, be more energetic and feel younger. You will fit into your clothes better, you will have more confidence and it will perk up your libido and your sex life. You will be in love with your new body and the great confidence that your transformation will give you.

While it’s often assumed that bread is off-limits when you’re trying to lose belly fat, the right bread may actually expedite the process. Switching to sprouted bread can help out carb-lovers eager to get their fix without going up a belt size, thanks to the inulin content of sprouted grains. The results of a study published in Nutrition & Metabolism reveal that found that pre-diabetic study subjects whose diets were supplemented with inulin shaved off more belly fat and total weight than those whose meal plans didn’t pack this healthy prebiotic fiber.
Why? Losing weight at a faster isn’t exactly healthy for your body, and it’s definitely not sustainable. So, while crash diets might help you quickly look good for that upcoming beach vacation, in all likelihood you’ll soon regain the weight—and then some.
Hi Kate, I’m taking a chance and have just ordered the program. Would you please mind sharing how long you have been doing the program and how many pounds you have lost? Also what other benefits have you noticed?
I’m lost on one point. My lifestyle is pretty seditary except for my lifting routine. I like to walk outside, or on the treadmill if it’s cold, for about an hour a day because it helps my mood. Is it still ok to do that, adding in some HIIT twice a week…. Will I be going against my goals if I do? Because otherwise I just sit around all day. My time walking re-centers me.
Resist the urge to use a diet that promises quick results. Often they don’t work, or they’re so restrictive you can’t handle them for more than a couple of days — let alone a week. If you do stick to the plan, you may very well see a drop in pounds — but it’s not from a substantial amount of fat; it’s mostly from water. A quick-fix diet teaches you nothing about sensible eating that will help you manage your belly fat and health forever. You’ll likely gain all the weight back as soon as you resume your normal eating habits.
To find your starting weights, honestly it’s just trial and error for your first week or two. As a general rule, for every 5 lbs you add to a dumbbell exercise, you’ll lose 2 reps. The same for every 10 lbs added to a barbell exercise. So if you put 100 lbs on the squat bar and do 10 reps, you should be able to get about 6 reps with 140 lbs.
